Respiratory Rapid Testing

Respiratory infections share overlapping symptoms, so the range of targets a rapid test covers is a practical consideration. Rapid antigen tests detect selected pathogen antigens, whereas molecular assays such as PCR detect nucleic acids. Their analytical characteristics and clinical applications differ. Dengue Rapid Testing

Dengue testing commonly addresses two kinds of marker. The NS1 antigen is a viral protein that can be present during dengue infection. IgM and IgG antibodies are produced by the immune response and, taken together, can indicate recent or past exposure to dengue. A test that reports both kinds of marker gives the clinical team complementary information, which must be interpreted alongside the patient’s presentation.

NS1 antigen and IgM/IgG antibody results reflect different aspects of the viral and immune response and must be interpreted alongside the clinical presentation and, where required, confirmatory testing.

HIV 4th-Generation Combination Rapid Test

A 4th-generation HIV combination rapid test — detecting HIV-1/2 antibodies together with HIV-1 p24 antigen in a single test — is planned for the Accuflex DX rapid-testing portfolio. Detailed product information will be published once the product documentation is confirmed.

A reactive HIV rapid screening result requires further testing according to the applicable national diagnostic algorithm. Results should be interpreted by qualified healthcare professionals.
